4th grade gestures, patterns and colors
Our fourth graders have been working a while on these magnificent compositions. We started out learning with some historical facts about Keith Haring, explored gesture drawing and then spent time discussing complementary colors as well as creating interesting patterns. I had an example but what I love is how most of the students' artwork does not look like my example! I gave them three requirements: 1) they must show me their best gesture drawing, 2) they must use complementary colors everywhere in their artwork, and 3) they must integrate their practiced extended and complex patterns. Check out how different some of them are while each following the guidelines! How cool is art!
