Fifth grade reductive prints

Wow.  This was a lengthy process but I think the results are truly stunning!  The smart fifth graders related the word "reduce" to meanings in math, such as "take away/ become smaller".  After they printed the first time, the fifth graders cut out their skin (face/neck/ears) and also reduced the background by drawing into the Styrofoam plate.  Finally, they printed the remaining plate with a new color right on top of the original print.  EXCELLENT work, fifth graders!

  1. I loved seeing this and your other printmaking projects (I studied printmaking in college). Can't believe your comments aren't filled with plaudits from parents. Lucky kids, who look happy. - Jake Unger
