1 burlap weaving

This is another one of my favorite lessons.  I think it's a great way to introduce the over-under concept of a variety of fiber arts, while not having the frustration of using a needle or tying knots.  I like how using pipe cleaners and the Twisteez wire is strong enough to push through the burlap loom.  The students were encouraged to create a pattern and I love how they all did this very differently.  Some of them also included beads.  I just love this sweet children!

  1. Cool idea! Where do you buy the burlap? Are you able to order it?

  2. You can order it from any art company. I either used Sax or Blick. I've always ordered the natural color but Mary Elfers did this super cool "firework" stitching lesson (a few years ago) on black burlap and I thought that was really neat. So, I know there are some colors too. Thanks, Laura!
