2nd grade Nevelson Assemblages

The second graders studied the funky Russian-born artist, Louise Nevelson.  We had a great time discussing her work, her personal style and the meaning of her work.  She uses found objects (not trash!) to "put together" her artwork.  These are called "assemblages" - as in putting something together.  My second graders easily recognized the word "assemblage" from "Avengers assemble".  Good connection!
Here's our famous artist and her's one of her works:

Now, here are the second graders hard at work as well as their final assemblages.  Pretty radical!

  1. I love Nevelson assemblages and I only do them every few years because the storage makes me a little cuckoo! They are so fun though and yours look great!
