Although this has been a popular lesson among Fulton County art teachers, this is the first year I've tried it. I really enjoyed teaching it and I hope (I think!) my students felt very successful also. We discussed the artwork of Atlanta-born artist, Kimmy Cantrell. He creates super cool asymmetrical faces. He adds a lot of pattern and surface design (even putting in real metal pieces). His artwork is not super bright or glossy, so instead of glazing these pieces, we used oil pastels and washed a layer of ink on top. I love how they turned out and I hope you do too!
