K Mini Mondrians

The Kindergarteners completed their study on primary colors by discussing and viewing the artwork of Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian.  It's always so fun to hear the comments from the students about his non-objective grid-like artwork.  Common themes I hear: buildings, streets, maps...you name it!  I changed up the lesson a bit this year and I think it worked with greater ease.  After dissecting his art, we had the criteria to use a least 4 lines (horizontal, vertical, diagonal and broken) and all the primary colors.  Here's what our mini masters created:
