3rd grade O'keeffe-inspired landscapes

The third graders became experts on Georgia O'Keeffe during this fun lesson.  They learned about her life and her artwork.  We reviewed and discussed elements of a landscape painting.  We specifically studied O'Keeffe's desert and mountain/lake landscape paintings.  The students got to choose either setting as the inspiration for their own artwork.  They started out by painting the sky a blue, either a tint or a shade.  They did a great job with the rest of it. They finished their artwork up with oil pastel details.  Wow!  The New Mexico area or the Lake George, NY area.  Check out what they did:
