As summer draws to a close, I'm excited to start my 11th year teaching art with Fulton County. This'll be my sixth year at State Bridge Crossing and I look forward to seeing smiling faces of new and returning students soon, as well as teaching the fifth graders this year, whom I met in Kindergarten!
I had an awesome and busy summer. During the first part of the summer, I attended the Woodruff Art Educator's Conference at the Woodruff Art Center in Midtown. I was fortunate to be a part of amazing break-out sessions with a lots of applicable teaching take-aways. Making indigo dye was probably the highlight of the three-day conference for me!
Art Education took up a lot of my summer, as I am part of a team working to rewrite the Art Curriculum for Fulton County. The Art Department at my school will be one of seven schools to pilot the draft of this new curriculum this year. Stay tuned to see what changes we have in place! I also went of a few vacations with my family, spent a lot of time working on the house we bought in April (including painting a nursery for our upcoming baby), and even spent the last week potty-training my son...with success! Yeah!
I can't wait to share what's in store for this up coming year, as well as the masterpieces created. I hope you all have a wonderful, magical, and blessed 2017-2018!
